Introduction - Coca Cola London Eye

  • The Coca-Cola London Eye is situated on the South Bank of the river Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament.
  • The Ticket Office is located inside County Hall, which is the building directly next to the London Eye.
  • There is a Gift Shop attached to the exit from the London Eye and also a standalone Iconic Gift Shop which is located next to the ticket office.
  • All areas can be accessed from the Queen's Walk walkway which runs parallel to the river.

Approach (Belvedere Road)

    • There is a wide walkway that links Belvedere Road and Queen's Walk at the side of County Hall.
      Customers that travel to the London Eye by coach, bus or taxi are likely to use this approach.
      The accessible entrance to the ticket office is located off this walkway.
      The walkway has a very slight incline.
    • There is a/are fixed bollard(s) on the approach.
    • The bollard(s) does/do not have a good colour contrast to prevent them being hazardous to visually impaired people.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.

Access To (London Eye Capsules)

  • Description View
    • The London Eye has a queuing system from Queen's Walk some of which is ramped.
      The width of the standard queuing area (shown in photograph 1) is approximately 134cm.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • The initial ramp slopes upwards with a slight gradient (shown in photograph 3).
      The width of the ramp is 145cm.
      The ramp has handrails on both sides
      There is a 100cm gap past a food and drink kiosk (shown in photograph 4).
      There is then another ramp which again slopes upwards with a slight gradient (shown in photographs 5-7).
      The ramp has 2 lanes.
      The minimum width of the lanes is 113cm.
      The ramp have handrails on both sides
      At the top of the ramps there are security barriers with 4 openings (shown in photographs 8 and 9).
      Openings 1 and 2 have flat access.
      The opening widths are 112cm.

Access From (London Eye Capsules to Gift Shop and Exit)

  • Description View
    • Staff will put the portable ramp in place for those needing to using it to alight the capsule (shown in photograph 1).
      The exit from the London Eye is via a gift shop area.
      The gift shop is accessed via a 3 section ramp (shown in photograph 2).
      The ramp has a downwards slope with a slight gradient.
      The minimum width of the ramp is 130cm.
      The ramp has handrails on both sides.

Gift Shop

  • The gift shop has a dual height photo counter (shown in photographs 1 and 2).
  • The heights of the counter are 92cm and 112cm.
  • There are patterned and glazed backgrounds behind some of the counters.
  • The gift shop has a dual height payment counter (shown in photograph 4).
  • The heights of the counter are 90cm and 110cm.
  • There is a glazed background behind the payment counter.
  • All card readers are moveable.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre within the gift shop.
